Quando si Cerca di Dimagrire - Printable Italian Word Search

If there’s one topic that seems to unite people across cultures, it might just be this: deciding to eat a little better, move a little more, and undo the effects of one too many indulgent meals.

Naturally, Italian has its own words and expressions for all of this. We might say sono a dieta (“I’m on a diet”), along with all the words for the willpower we summon (or don’t), and the scales many of us would rather avoid stepping on. But then again, how can you resist a plate of delicious spaghetti alle vongole?

Quando si cerca di dimagrire brings together some of the vocabulary you might hear whenever the conversation turns to healthy eating, diets, and staying in shape.

You’ll find the crossword below, with clues in Italian or English, whichever way you fancy playing. And if you get stuck, or just want to revisit the vocabulary afterwards, you can reveal each answer along with its English meaning further down the page.

Buon divertimento! 😊

My favourite word from this puzzle 😋

My favourite word here has to be appetito. There's nothing quite like sitting down to eat with a healthy dose of it, and in Italian we even have a lovely way of describing someone who really enjoys their food: essere una buona forchetta (literally, "to be a good fork"). It's said with real affection, never as an insult, more a badge of honour for anyone who tucks in with enthusiasm.

If sport feels more fun than counting calories, you might enjoy my free word match Sport.

And if, like me, you've ever made a bold declaration about giving up carbs (and quietly regretted it an hour later), I have a T-shirt for that too: Ho deciso di tagliare i carboidrati.
