Ah, those English-Italian false friends! How often do they get us into trouble.
I thought it would be fun to create a t-shirt with a false friend that got me once, when I was talking about my English teacher.
So, to set the record straight: “tremendous teacher is not equal to insegnante tremenda”.
In case there are any doubts: tremendous in Italian would translate as favoloso, fantastic. While tremendo means terrible, awful. So just be careful what you say about your Italian teacher! 😉
The adjective tremenda refers to a female teacher, and of course I also have the tremendo version for the male teacher.
